BlackJack Smart Phone

Cingular, Samsung, and Microsoft have joined hands to introduce the BlackJack smart phone, which is wooing those who use mobiles for both business and pleasure.

Somewhat following in the footsteps of the "Q" phone from Motorola and the "BlackBerry Pearl" from Research in Motion (RIM), Samsung's BlackJack is an ultra-compact cell phone, and features a computer-like keyboard and also has a music and video player.

Powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 OS, the smart phone comes with "direct push" technology for receiving wireless email. It has an in-built Microsoft Explorer Mobile and consumers can browse the Internet in much the same way they would on their desktops. The BlackJack's Cingular third generation plus EDGE cellular data networks, allows is users to access the Internet at much faster speeds.

The BlackJack will be available from Cingular, for around $200 (Rs 9,000) - same as the price of the BlackBerry Pearl. Meanwhile, the Moto Q is available from Verizon Wireless for about $100 (Rs 4,500).

Canon India has announced the launch of 51 new products, their largest portfolio ever launched in a day, in the country.

The 51 products launched include 7 digital cameras, 1 digital SLR, 4 digital video camcorders, 2 Selphy printers, 2 lens, 5 Bubblejet printers, 2 scanners, 2 laser printers, 6 AIOs, 3 projectors, 5 large format production machines, and 10 products from BIS, including copiers, laser multifunctionals, and DR Scanner.

Skype today announced new cordless phones, the Philips VoIP841, that allows cheap calls using prevailing broadband connection, without requiring a computer and special software.

The Philips VoIP841 belongs to a new class of phone that enables Skype users to make and receive both Skype calls over the Internet and traditional landline calls, without a computer, and offers the added convenience of a cordless phone. Another such similar product in this class is the NETGEAR's cordless phone for Skype.

Company claims that their new Skype enabled cordless phones like Philips VOIP841 offer more mobility throughout the home or office, giving consumers the flexibility of not being attached to their computer.

Sony has unveiled in India its new S2 Sports Walkman MP3 Player which is housed in a durable and aluminum water-resistant casing featuring digital MP3 player and an in-built FM Radio and is targeted at people who like music as an accompaniment to their workouts.

Available in capacities of 1GB and 2GB, the new portable Sony S2 Sports Walkman is capable of playing digital audio music with variety of formats including AAC(non-DRM), MP3, WMA(non-DRM) and ATRAC(R), Sony's own custom music format and are compatible with CONNECT Music, the Sony CONNECT online music service.
